El Hijo del Vikingo will be out of action for another lengthy period. He underwent surgery on July 7 after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vikingo is expected to miss approximately nine months and return around mid-April 2027.
“Right now the expectation of El Hijo del Vikingo, who underwent surgery for a torn ACL on 7/7, is that he will be out of action for about nine months. Vikingo was Latin American champion and with the injury, the title is vacant.”
The injury occurred on June 30, just hours before Vikingo was scheduled to defend the AAA Latin American Championship against EK Prosper on WWE NXT. He was in Orlando and suffered the injury while preparing for the match.
Vikingo had wrestled the previous night at the SmackDown tapings, where Rey Fenix defeated him in a match for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.
On the latest episode of AAA on FOX, Dorian Roldán tried to hand the Latin American Championship to Omos. Rey Mysterio stepped in, threatened to suspend the giant if he did not hand the title back, and officially declared the championship vacant.
AAA will announce on its July 18 show how a new champion will be crowned. Vikingo will also miss Triplemanía and WWE x AAA Worlds Collide.
