Add as a preferred source on Google Jon Moxley remains the AEW Continental Champion. At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, held this Sunday, June 28, at the SAP Center in San Jose, the Death Riders leader defeated Bandido to retain the title.
The match put Moxley across the ring from the reigning ROH World Champion in one of several title bouts on the pay-per-view, which also featured names from NJPW, CMLL, and STARDOM.
In the closing moments, Moxley locked Bandido in a rear naked choke. The challenger tried to escape by getting back to his feet and throwing his own body backward, but the champion kept the hold applied and tightened his grip, forcing the referee to stop the match.
With the win, Moxley reached his fifth successful defense of the AEW Continental Championship. He won the title at AEW Worlds End 2025, where he defeated Kazuchika Okada.
