Dominik Mysterio dropped back-to-back losses right after WWE SummerSlam, and Vince Russo thinks WWE did it on purpose as payback for a social media post.
At SummerSlam last Sunday (8/2), Danhausen beat Dominik, who entered as the reigning AAA Mega Champion, in the Human Monies on a Pole Match. JD McDonagh, Joe Hendry, and the Minihausens all got involved in the finish before Danhausen hit his trademark curse and retrieved the $100,000 hanging above the corner.
The next day, Dominik posted a GIF of Marshawn Lynch on X with the caption “I’m here so I won’t get fined,” a nod to Lynch’s famous “I’m just here so I won’t get fined” line from a press conference. The post immediately fueled speculation that Mysterio was venting frustration over his booking.
Speaking on the latest Coach & Bro Show, Russo tied the post to what went down hours later on Raw.
“Bro, they beat Dom with Danhausen, then he put out that tweet, then they beat him again. This is what we’re talking about, guys. This is the pettiness. No, Dom, you’re not going to do that, Dom. Now, we’re going to give you a little slap on the knuckles, Dom, and you’re going to fall in line. Rather than somebody be an adult and go to Dom and say, ‘Hey, Dom, bro, if you had a problem with that on Sunday night, you should have spoke to somebody about it.’ Putting out that little meme maybe wasn’t the right thing to do. But no, bro, they’re not gonna do that. They’re going to beat him again. And what do they do by beating him, bro? They hurt the character. And what do they do by hurting the character, guys? They in turn hurt themselves.”
On the 8/3 Raw, Dominik and JD McDonagh interrupted Chad Gable and Penta, setting up a tag team match. Gable pinned Mysterio after hitting the Chaos Theory.
There’s no confirmation that the Raw result was changed because of the post. As of now, the idea that Dominik was being punished is strictly Russo’s interpretation.
