Fans are accusing WWE of burying Dominik Mysterio after Danhausen defeated the AAA Mega Champion at SummerSlam on Sunday.

The result came in the first Human Monies on a Pole match, with $100,000 that Danhausen had taken from The Judgment Day hanging above the ring.

JD McDonagh and the Minihausens became involved before Joe Hendry hit McDonagh with a guitar. When Mysterio moved within reach of the money, Danhausen used his curse to trigger turnbuckle pyro and collected the bag while Mysterio was down.

The online backlash focused on the gap between Mysterio’s recent booking and a comedy loss at a major PLE. He retained the Intercontinental Championship against AJ Styles at SummerSlam 2025 and went on to defeat John Cena for the title at Survivor Series.

Several fans described Sunday’s finish as a burial, while others criticized Triple H and argued that WWE had damaged one of RAW’s most reliable heels. One post called the treatment of Mysterio “criminal,” and another said WWE had wasted the former Intercontinental Champion.

Mysterio didn’t directly answer those complaints. He posted a Marshawn Lynch GIF after the show with the line, “I’m here so I won’t get fined.”

The loss did not cost Mysterio the AAA Mega Championship, which was not at stake.
