The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh issued a new security alert for Americans in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, less than two weeks before Crown Jewel.
The alert continues to urge extreme caution at the country’s airports, even after flights partially resumed in Riyadh.
According to the alert, King Khalid International Airport has resumed domestic flights and some international flights operated by Saudi airlines, but the reopening is limited. Some flights have been moved to Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Qassim.
The embassy said:
“Please take extreme caution if you choose to use airports in Saudi Arabia.”
The alert advises U.S. citizens to check their flight status directly with airlines and airports before traveling. The airports in Jeddah and Dammam remain open, but they are still seeing delays and cancellations.

U.S. government employees also face restrictions and need special authorization to use any airport in Saudi Arabia. Non-emergency employees and their families had already been ordered to leave the country.
The reopening in Riyadh came on the same day new threats were made against the airport. Reuters reported that the Houthis still consider the airport a military target and have warned airlines and passengers not to use it.
WWE’s plans haven’t changed. As previously reported, Ari Emanuel confirmed the company is monitoring the situation daily and working on backup options in case Crown Jewel has to be moved to another location.
