The show featured five matches, all between men. Liv Morgan and IYO SKY appeared during the match between Joe Hendry and Dominik Mysterio, while Sol Ruca and Lyra Valkyria took part in a backstage segment, but none of the women wrestled.
On Devon & The Duke, D-Von Dudley said the absence was strange, but he urged caution before pinning the blame solely on Triple H, WWE’s current Chief Content Officer.
The WWE Hall of Famer, who worked as a producer for the company for several years, pointed out that fans don’t know exactly what goes on in the show’s production meeting.
“It’s not the Vince regime anymore. It’s the TKO regime is what I like to say because they’re the ones deciding everything. There are people higher up than Triple H. If you honestly think Triple H is making every decision, I don’t believe that.
From my understanding and from what I’m hearing, they pretty much decide what storylines are approved and what storylines aren’t. If I’m wrong, then I’m wrong, but that’s what I’m hearing.
And if that is the case, then you can’t really fault Triple H.”
To be fair, that comment reflects only D-Von’s own understanding of the backstage process, not confirmation that TKO executives vetoed any women’s match.
Publicly, WWE has always made clear that Triple H oversees the Creative Writing, Talent Relations, Live Events, Talent Development, and Creative Services departments. So it makes sense that this decision would have gone through him.
