Raquel Rodriguez captured the Women’s Intercontinental Championship on Monday’s SummerSlam go-home edition of Raw at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
Rodriguez defeated Sol Ruca after outside involvement from The Judgment Day. Liv Morgan tried to help Rodriguez, but IYO SKY ran down and fought Morgan around ringside. Roxanne Perez then prevented Ruca from hitting the Sol Snatcher, allowing Rodriguez to connect with the Tejana Bomb for the pin.
Ruca had used her speed and aerial offense to answer Rodriguez’s power throughout the match. Rodriguez was bloodied during the bout but continued kicking out before the interference changed the finish.
The victory gives Rodriguez her first singles championship since joining WWE’s main roster. She had previously held the NXT Women’s Championship under the Raquel Gonzalez name, defeating Io Shirai at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver in April 2021.
Monday’s title match was the second between Rodriguez and Ruca this month. Ruca retained on the July 6 Raw after SKY neutralized interference from Morgan and Perez, leaving the champion free to hit the Sol Snatcher.
Ruca’s reign began at Clash in Italy on May 31, where she defeated Becky Lynch to win her first championship on WWE’s main roster. She later retained against Lyra Valkyria and Rodriguez before dropping the title on the final Raw before SummerSlam.
