Danhausen has become one of WWE’s most talked-about characters, especially after his recent connection to the 2026 NBA champion New York Knicks.

The phenomenon has already moved beyond pro wrestling. On the latest Monday Night RAW, WWE aired a video showing Danhausen helping the Knicks reach the NBA Finals, further increasing his presence outside the company’s traditional programming.

During a recent appearance on Something To Wrestle, JBL spoke about Danhausen’s success and made it clear that he would rather not interfere with the creative process behind the character.

“The NBA loves this guy, and for good reason. He’s really talented, he’s good at what he does. I don’t want to give him any advice. Sometimes young guys come up to me asking for advice. I don’t understand the Danhausen character, I kind of have some ideas about it, but he’s doing so well.”

The WWE Hall of Famer also explained that, in some cases, the wrong advice can pull a talent away from the path that made them successful.

“You don’t want to give somebody advice, and then they take your advice and get taken out of the thought process that got them over.”

JBL also compared Danhausen to rare comedy names in wrestling, such as Santino Marella and R-Truth, saying few talents can create that kind of connection without losing their place inside the ring.

Danhausen’s connection with the Knicks gained even more momentum after Jalen Brunson, the NBA Finals MVP, said on The Tonight Show that he began believing in the wrestler’s power after the franchise won the title.

WWE, meanwhile, is already looking at ways to capitalize on that popularity at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 18, which will take place at Madison Square Garden, the home of the Knicks.
