WWE Has Not Moved Forward on Signing Richard Holliday

Richard Holliday had been pointed to in recent weeks as a possible new addition to WWE. However, the situation appears to be far less advanced than the rumors initially indicated.

According to Fightful Select, the same WWE sources who previously believed Holliday would be signed were consulted again. Although the wrestler’s name has continued to be mentioned internally for years, those people have not heard of any recent movement to bring him to the company.

The update represents a considerable shift from the July picture. At the time, Fightful reported that there was interest from WWE and that some sources expected a signing soon. PWInsider also separately heard from company sources that Holliday could end up in WWE NXT. None of the reports, however, confirmed a signed contract.

Speculation grew further on July 12, when Holliday was defeated by Bear Bronson at GCW Melee in Manchester and left his boots in the center of the ring, a gesture traditionally associated with a farewell.

Despite that, Holliday continues with commitments on the independent circuit. He is announced to face Ashton Adonis this Saturday at RCW Swinging For The Fences 2 in South Bend, Indiana. GCW also confirmed his return for Rock Bottom on September 25 in Detroit.

Holliday recently told Gabby AF that he intends to explain this weekend why he left his boots in the ring. The wrestler said he will do it through his own social media, without connecting the announcement to a possible arrival in WWE.

In short, although Richard Holliday remains on WWE’s radar, there is currently no concrete information that his signing is close.
