Brock Rechsteiner, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner and cousin of Bron Breakker, was released by the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, August 30, leaving his future up in the air once again.
According to NFL reporter Nick Underhill, who covers the Saints, the team waived Rechsteiner before the 6 p.m. ET deadline to set its initial 53-man roster.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound wide receiver arrived in New Orleans in May after going undrafted. He signed a contract on May 12 after impressing the Saints during a rookie minicamp tryout. Over four seasons at Jacksonville State, he caught 53 passes for 629 yards and seven touchdowns.
The release comes just weeks after Rechsteiner received a six-game NFL suspension for violating the league and NFLPA’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. The suspension will remain in effect even if he signs with another team.

According to Fightful Select, a high-ranking WWE official recently said there is a “99.9 percent chance” Rechsteiner will receive an offer as soon as his football career ends. WWE has been following him since his college football days and does not plan to put him through a tryout.
Rechsteiner also signed an NIL deal with WWE in February 2025 and has publicly made clear that he plans to enter pro wrestling once he is done with football.
Despite his release, there is no confirmation that Rechsteiner is done pursuing an NFL career. Another team could claim him off waivers or sign him later, so an immediate move to WWE remains unconfirmed.
