According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, company officials were very happy with the recent work of the current United States Champion. The biggest standout was his appearance on last week’s SmackDown in Columbia, South Carolina.
Even with Columbia being Trick’s hometown, the crowd reaction reportedly surprised some people within WWE in a positive way. His entrance, performance, and connection with the fans were the points that drew the most praise.
On the show, Williams defeated The Miz in a non-title match. Lil Yachty played a key role in his ally’s victory.
Lil Yachty also received backstage praise. WWE was reportedly impressed with the rapper’s dedication to his appearances, especially the way he has embraced his role in Williams’ storyline.
The partnership gained momentum at WrestleMania 42, when Trick defeated Sami Zayn to win the United States Championship. He later beat Zayn again at Backlash to retain the title.
With that, the expectation is that Williams will continue to be featured prominently on SmackDown, while Lil Yachty could remain an important part of his presentation in WWE.
