Roman Reigns and CM Punk could collide again before the end of 2026, this time in a champion-vs-champion match at Survivor Series.
A report that began circulating on social media suggests WWE is considering putting the World Heavyweight Champion across the ring from the current Undisputed WWE Champion. The report, however, doesn’t cite a clearly identified original source, and as of this writing, the match hasn’t been confirmed.
The possibility gained traction after Punk won the Undisputed WWE Championship on the July 6 episode of Monday Night RAW.
On top of that, WrestleVotes Radio reported that Punk is expected to have a lengthy title reign, with most of his appearances taking place on Friday Night SmackDown. Reigns, meanwhile, remains World Heavyweight Champion and is set to defend the title against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam.

If the match does happen, it would be a direct rematch of WrestleMania 42, where Reigns defeated Punk in the night two main event to become champion.
The idea of putting the two brands’ world champions across from each other wouldn’t be unprecedented at Survivor Series, either. Reigns defeated Drew McIntyre in 2020 and Big E in 2021, back when the event still centered on the RAW-versus-SmackDown rivalry.
Still, there are obstacles in the way. A host city for Survivor Series 2026 remains undetermined. Plans to hold the event outside the United States fell through, while negotiations with Boston stalled over financial issues. WWE is expected to make an announcement before SummerSlam.
With that in mind, Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk should be treated as nothing more than a possibility for now. Until there’s an official confirmation, changes in WWE’s creative plans could scrap the match entirely.
