Recent censorship on Raw has sparked frustration backstage in WWE, particularly among the company’s post-production staff.
WrestleVotes Radio reported on Fightful Select that several staffers in the department feel significantly restricted by Netflix’s content guidelines. While WWE anticipated that the platform would enforce certain standards, nobody internally expected the guardrails to be this tight.
The primary flashpoint occurred on the August 31 episode of Raw, taped three days earlier at Cleveland’s Rocket Arena. Royce Keys and OTM ambushed The Usos in the parking lot, leaving both brothers battered and bleeding on the concrete. During the broadcast, Netflix heavily blurred the graphic visuals throughout the segment.
WWE made its displeasure clear almost immediately when Triple H posted the uncensored footage on social media. Releasing the original cut received unanimous internal backing, as personnel felt the violence was essential to the angle’s impact.
The censorship issues extend beyond this week. In August, Netflix removed a planned Becky Lynch line referencing Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio from the Raw replay. Prior to that, blood and even a Brock Lesnar T-shirt were altered on versions uploaded to the platform.
Raw remains rated TV-PG on Netflix. How WWE and the streaming service handle violent angles moving forward looms as a central question, especially on taped episodes where the platform has ample time to enforce edits before airtime.
