Add as a preferred source on Google Brie’s serious injury at SummerSlam is expected to have bigger implications than just a hiatus for the Bella Twins.
Brie fractured her shoulder blade during the six-woman tag team match at SummerSlam in Minneapolis, where she teamed with Nikki Bella and Paige against Fatal Influence. Despite the injury, she finished the match and took part in Nikki’s post-match attack on Paige.
According to WrestleVotes, WWE had been building toward a tag team match with AJ Lee and Paige vs. The Bella Twins, possibly at Money in the Bank.
Those plans will have to be reworked, with Brie potentially sidelined for six months or longer.
“The writing on the wall was there for a tag match between Paige and AJ Lee taking on The Bella Twins. Now that Brie is out, for upwards of six months, it does affect it a little bit.”
The match would have been a rematch of WrestleMania 31 in 2015, when AJ and Paige defeated Nikki and Brie.
AJ has not competed since losing to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 42, but WWE still has her listed on the active roster. If she does return, it’s now expected to go in a completely different direction.
