Add as a preferred source on Google Season 3 of WWE Unreal revealed Triple H’s reaction to CM Punk’s performance in the main event of Night 2 of WrestleMania 42, held April 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
“CM Punk’s performance was magical. If he waited his whole life for that moment, he did it justice,” Triple H said.
The praise came after Punk and Roman Reigns competed for the World Heavyweight Championship for 33 minutes and 56 seconds. Reigns won the match.
The moment also carried elements tied to the Best in the World’s career. Punk started his entrance with “Miseria Cantare,” the song he used during his run in ROH, before transitioning into “Cult of Personality.”
For Punk, that moment carried a different weight than the main event of Night 1 of WrestleMania 41, when he faced Reigns and Seth Rollins.
“Feels like vindication. Feels like where I belong. Feels like it should’ve happened 15 years ago. And I’m not gonna wait another 15 years for it to happen again. See you next year,” Punk said.
The comment is a direct reference to 2011, the year of the Pipe Bomb and his historic win over John Cena at Money in the Bank — a stretch during which Punk reached the top of WWE without ever landing a WrestleMania main event. A year earlier, following WrestleMania 41, he had already said that appearance would be his first in the main event, but not his last.
Three months after his loss to Reigns, Punk became champion again. He defeated Sami Zayn on the July 6 episode of RAW and will now defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam.
