Marina Shafir addressed Mercedes Moné again and made it clear she intends to challenge for the AEW Women’s World Championship.
This time, though, she took a different approach from the taunt she directed at Moné on Wednesday’s Dynamite.
In a video AEW released after Saturday’s Collision, Shafir explained that she wanted to get Moné’s attention. She also expressed respect for Moné and reiterated that she wants to face her.
“You’re not a p*ssy. I actually have a lot of respect for you. I need to stand across the ring from you. I want to show everyone exactly who I am.”
Shafir said Moné is in a league of her own in pro wrestling, but she believes she belongs on that level too. In Shafir’s view, the difference between the two comes down to how they show their dominance.
Shafir criticized Moné’s need for big productions to elevate her performances. She said she doesn’t need dances or constant validation because she believes her work should speak for itself.

Shafir also said the past three years of her career led her to this opportunity. Her goal is to show fans who she really is, but above all to prove it to Moné herself.
The comments follow up on the confrontation between the two on Wednesday’s Dynamite, when Shafir answered Moné’s open challenge with “Don’t be a p*ssy.” Moné left the ring without engaging Shafir at the time.
The two were on opposite sides of a trios match on the September 30 Dynamite. Shafir won it for her team by making Britt Baker tap out to the Brutalizer.
On Saturday’s Collision, Shafir also submitted Trish Adora with the Brutalizer to give the Death Riders a win over Shane Taylor Promotions in a mixed tag team match.
AEW’s next pay-per-view is Full Gear, set for November 14 at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona. A Shafir vs. Moné match could happen at the show, but it has not been made official yet.
