Sheamus still does not have a deal with AEW, though some big names on the roster reportedly want to see him signed.
On Friday, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select provided an update on the situation.
Sapp said Claudio Castagnoli and Adam Copeland are among the leading advocates for bringing Sheamus to AEW. He added that there isn’t much urgency to bring him in for now.
“There doesn’t seem to be a huge urgency in bringing him in [Sheamus to AEW] but there are some heavy hitters like Claudio Castagnoli and Adam Copeland that have made it clear that they would like him there,” Sapp said. “Sheamus has had talks with other companies. I don’t know if he’s had direct talks with All Elite Wrestling, but nothing seems imminent.”
As previously reported, Castagnoli had already expressed interest in an AEW reunion with his former partner in The Bar.
Sapp’s new details add clarity to the earlier report that AEW veterans were pushing for the company to sign Sheamus.
TNA was reportedly one of the companies that showed interest in Sheamus. On October 13, Fightful Select reported that TNA had reached out to him about a possible appearance at Bound for Glory.
Copeland also has strong ties to Sheamus. On August 18, 2023, he chose Sheamus as his opponent for his 25th anniversary celebration in WWE.
