Asuka, who left WWE Backlash emotional after losing to IYO SKY, confirmed that she remains with WWE and will return to the company in the future.

The statement came after days of rumors about a possible retirement or permanent departure, especially following her hug with SKY at Backlash and the farewell shown on the following Monday Night RAW.

In a video posted on her personal YouTube channel, Asuka explained that she returned to Japan to deal with a personal matter after speaking directly with WWE about the situation.

“I am still officially with WWE. So there is a chance I might just appear in front of you when you least expect it.”

Asuka also made it clear that she still considers herself to be at the top of her game physically. She pointed out that she has been with the company for more than 10 years, building one of the most successful runs in the women’s division.

At Backlash, held on May 9 in Tampa, Florida, Asuka was defeated by IYO SKY in a highly emotional match. After the bout, the two hugged, and Asuka thanked the fans in attendance.

Despite confirming that she remains with WWE, the Japanese star did not reveal when she will return to weekly programming or the company’s tours. Asuka did warn, however, that her appearances may be rare going forward.
