Add as a preferred source on Google Samoa Joe is set to be away from AEW for an indefinite period.During Wednesday’s three-hour AEW Dynamite and Collision special at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Joe appeared backstage alongside fellow The Opps members Hook, Katsuyori Shibata and Anthony Bowens.
It was there that he revealed he would be stepping away for a few months, saying that “Hollywood came calling.”
As part of the storyline, Joe left The Opps’ leadership situation open-ended, asking the group to keep order during his absence. Hook, who had already stepped into that role during another absence from the veteran, quickly moved back between Bowens and Shibata.

Joe’s exit comes just days after AEW Double or Nothing, where he was defeated by Will Ospreay in the quarterfinals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
