Bayley may have wrestled her last match at Madison Square Garden as a WWE star.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a source said there was backstage talk ahead of the July 18 Saturday Night’s Main Event that Bayley’s match against Lyra Valkyria would mark her farewell to the historic New York City arena.

The match ended in brutal fashion, with Valkyria making Bayley pass out to a submission hold. After the bell, Valkyria attacked her again, throwing her into the ring post and hitting the Nightwing on the steel steps.

The venue made the possible farewell feel even more symbolic. Bayley and Valkyria were on that same Madison Square Garden card on March 30, when they teamed up to challenge Nia Jax and Lash Legend for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Just under four months later, the partnership ended with one of them left laid out by the other.

That report doesn’t mean Bayley has already wrapped up her run in WWE, though. Her contract is expected to run through the end of 2026, barring any extension for injury time, and she has not yet signed a renewal. WWE plans to try to keep her, while AEW has been discussing her name internally for almost a year.

Adding to the uncertainty, Bayley was pulled from promotional material for an experience tied to the SummerSlam tryouts and replaced by Ivy Nile. Despite that, she remains listed on WWE’s official roster, and sources within the company have not confirmed that Valkyria’s attack represented a permanent removal from WWE programming.
