Becky Lynch revealed that she briefly considered making the jump to MMA after working with Ronda Rousey in WWE. The idea, however, did not last long.
During an appearance on Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story?, Lynch recalled one moment when Rousey beat her up so badly that she started thinking about changing professions.
“You know wrestling her (Ronda Rousey), there was one time when she beat me up and I remember thinking, not because I could fight back but I was like ‘Aw, I could take a beating, maybe I could go into MMA. I think I could take it.
“And then that lasted one week. Actually one week is generous.”
Lynch and Rousey’s rivalry remains one of the most memorable stories in WWE’s women’s division. Alongside Charlotte Flair, they headlined WrestleMania 35 in 2019, marking the first women’s main event in the history of the show.
At the event, Lynch defeated Rousey and Flair to win both the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Championships at the same time.
Despite Lynch’s joke, there has never been any real indication that she seriously considered leaving pro wrestling to pursue a career in MMA.
