Add as a preferred source on Google Carmella has teased a return to WWE in a new role, putting herself forward as a possible SmackDown General Manager while Nick Aldis steps away from the position.
Ahead of Monday Night RAW, a fan suggested Carmella for the role on social media. The former SmackDown Women’s Champion responded by signaling that she would be interested in taking charge of the blue brand.
WWE has not announced that Carmella has re-signed or that she is officially being considered for the position.
The opening is only temporary at this point. On the July 24 episode of SmackDown, Adam Pearce explained that Aldis had to relinquish his General Manager duties before signing the contract to face Gunther at SummerSlam. Wade Barrett later clarified that Aldis is expected to resume the role after the event, with Pearce overseeing SmackDown in the interim.
Carmella is currently a free agent. Her WWE contract expired in February 2025 after more than a decade with the company, and she has not wrestled since 2023. In April 2026, she publicly stated that she had not retired and teased a potential return to the ring.
A General Manager position would also fit with an alternative role Carmella previously attempted to pursue. She revealed in 2025 that she had offered to return in a non-wrestling capacity while she dealt with postpartum nerve damage, and pitched an idea to manage a tag team. She said those discussions eventually ended without her returning to TV.
