WWE has announced a champion vs. champion match for the August 4 episode of NXT. Wren Sinclair will defend the WWE Women’s Speed Championship against NXT Women’s North American Champion Zaria.
The match was booked during a backstage segment on this week’s episode of NXT. Zaria approached NXT General Manager Robert Stone to ask about her next challenger. Sinclair suddenly appeared and asked the same question about the Women’s Speed title.
After the two champions argued over which title should take priority, Stone decided that Sinclair would defend the Women’s Speed Championship against Zaria. If Sinclair wins, she will earn a future shot at the NXT Women’s North American Championship.
WWE has not announced when Sinclair would receive the title shot if she wins.
Sinclair won the Women’s Speed Championship on March 17 by forcing Fallon Henley to submit to the Final Wrench. Sinclair’s only defense came on June 28, when she defeated Arianna Grace at NXT Great American Bash.
Zaria won the NXT Women’s North American Championship on June 9 by defeating Tatum Paxley. She later defeated Paxley again at NXT Great American Bash and retained the title in a Fatal 4-Way Match against Izzi Dame, Lizzy Rain, and Nikkita Lyons.
