The real reason behind Chris Jericho’s absence from this week’s AEW Dynamite has finally been revealed. The former AEW World Champion was spotted filming scenes for the second season of Dexter: Resurrection in New York City.
The released images show Jericho alongside Michael C. Hall, who portrays Dexter Morgan, during a nighttime shoot in Brooklyn on April 29. The scene indicates the wrestler will have a direct role in the storyline, apparently as one of the protagonist’s targets.
Before the confirmation, PWInsider had already reported that Jericho would miss Dynamite because he was in New York filming a television project. AEW, however, still featured the wrestler on the episode through a pre-taped segment involving The Demand.
Jericho recently returned to AEW programming on the April 1 episode of Dynamite after time away. Since then, he has been involved in a feud with Ricochet and The Demand, even suffering a defeat at Dynasty.
The second season of Dexter: Resurrection is already in production, although an official premiere date has not yet been announced. The cast will see Michael C. Hall return in the lead role, along with the returns of Uma Thurman, Jack Alcott, James Remar, and Desmond Harrington.
Among the new names confirmed are Brian Cox, who will play the New York Ripper, and Dan Stevens, cast as The Five Borough Killer. As of now, Jericho’s involvement has not been officially announced by Paramount+.
