Tony Khan has once again spoken about AEW‘s international expansion, naming several markets he would like to visit in the coming years.
In a recent interview with the Battleground Podcast, the company president highlighted Guadalajara, Mexico, as one of the cities that could host a major show. Khan recalled that AEW has already been to Mexico City, but believes there are still many opportunities in the country.
“There are a lot of great cities in Mexico that we have not been to yet. We’ve been to Mexico City, but I think there are more opportunities. Guadalajara is a great town, and there are other cities in America. After all these years, places where maybe we’ve done a TV, but we haven’t had a pay-per-view yet. So, there are so many great places that I’d love to go to.”
“I mentioned Guadalajara. I think that’s one good opportunity for us. That could be an awesome place to visit. There are also a lot of big international cities. There’s never been AEW in France, Italy, Germany. These are great markets for pro wrestling and where there’s lots of AEW fans.”
The comments come just under a year after AEW held Grand Slam: Mexico in partnership with CMLL at the historic Arena México. The event, held on June 18, 2025, was the first time the company had ever promoted a show in the country.
So far, however, AEW has not confirmed any shows in Guadalajara or debut events in those European countries.
It’s worth noting that Tony Khan has already stated the company plans to return to Mexico in 2026, maintaining its relationship with CMLL. The expectation is that this expansion will continue to happen gradually.
