CM Punk will get a shot at the NXT Championship against Grayson Waller in a match WWE has announced for next week’s NXT.
The announcement was made during Halloween Havoc on Saturday. In a backstage segment, Robert Stone was shown talking to Punk on the phone and told him he got his message.
Waller has been calling out Punk, and he talked about him on Thursday as a guest on Insight with Chris Van Vliet.
In the interview, Waller said he respects the work Punk has done with the wrestlers in NXT, but he has no plans to treat him like he is above him. He complained that Punk didn’t ask him for permission before he showed up in NXT.
“So he should have texted me and asked for permission to be on the show,” Waller said.

When Van Vliet asked about the possibility of going face-to-face with Punk on the mic, Waller responded:
“I’m going to. It’s happening.”
The title match will take place a little over a month after Punk passed on a similar opportunity. On the September 29 edition of NXT, Shawn Michaels offered Punk and AJ Styles the chance to answer Waller’s open challenge. Punk declined because he was not officially a part of the NXT roster.
That night, EK Prosper ended up accepting the challenge but lost to Waller.
The two had an interaction back in July. Punk publicly praised Waller’s NXT return promo.
