Cody Rhodes opened up about the intense backstage routine in WWE, especially on Raw and SmackDown days.
During a recent edition of What Do You Wanna Talk About? with Fallon Henley, Rhodes said the transition to the main roster brings a kind of pressure that is difficult to replicate in NXT.
The “American Nightmare” pointed to the number of segments, commercial obligations, and quick changes that can happen in a single day.
“There’s a lot of segments, and you have those days where you get there and they’re like, ‘Alright so seg 1 arrival. Seg 1 promo. Seg 16’s gonna be the match, but then there’s all these other ones.’
‘Here’s Tommy. Here’s Kasama. Here’s the new guy Zane from the writing crew. You gotta do this warm up and it’s sponsored by goo goo gaga.’ It’s a contractual deal and I didn’t know, and what do I wear? Am I in gear? ‘Oh, no. It’s five segments before your match.’
It’s just a whole lot of stress.”
The comments come at an important transitional point for Henley. Alongside Jacy Jayne and Lainey Reid, she officially joined SmackDown after WrestleMania 42, with Fatal Influence quickly entering a feud with WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Paige and Brie Bella.
