Drew McIntyre does not intend to leave WWE, even with the growth of his career in Hollywood.
In a recent interview on Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story? podcast, he guaranteed that he will continue working full-time for WWE over the next few years.
During the conversation with Stephanie, McIntyre recalled a statement he made to Vince McMahon about the pressure of being one of the company’s top names.
“I said to your dad like, ‘You can throw anything at me, um, as champion, as the top guy here, I won’t even flinch. I’ve been through it all, not just in the ring, but outside the ring, too.'”
Next, he talked about his future and the understanding he has with Nick Khan and Triple H to balance his career in the ring with new film projects.
“This is home. I’m not going anywhere. This is like we have a understanding talking with with Nick and Paul that if something good comes up we do that. But I’m a full-time wrestler. Just turned 41. I’m gonna be here for years. So, expect me to disappear anytime soon.”
McIntyre has been off WWE programming since WrestleMania 42 in April. As previously reported, Triple H authorized an extension of his absence so that he could take part in the filming of The Last Druid, a film starring Russell Crowe.
Despite guaranteeing that he will remain with the company for the next few years, McIntyre has yet to set a date for his return to the ring. In an interview on Going Ringside, he said that his immediate priority remains Hollywood.
