Drew McIntyre said some of his WWE colleagues took his social media jabs personally.
McIntyre told Dan Soder on the Soder Podcast that he had to remind other wrestlers his shots are aimed at their characters, not at the people behind them.
“Yeah, that’s my favorite thing. The past few years when I was outside the company, I really worked in the microphone stuff. Found my voice. Finally found my character which is basically me. There’s a lot of truth in there. And then I found out in real life I just talk so much cr*p and people are always laughing but I’m not like yourself, I’m not intent. I can sit and write something. I’m just unintentionally funny apparently. And then sometimes I was, I kind of rip on people a lot.”
McIntyre did not say which wrestlers were bothered, though he had already said back in 2025 that it was happening. In an interview with Fightful at the time, he said some wrestlers would rather complain to WWE management about his posts than confront him in person.
One example of how his jabs come together involves Sheamus. In an August 2025 interview with Chris Van Vliet, he said he was the one who suggested the famous burger-after-burger line, a dig at his own weight that McIntyre delivered during a Raw segment.
McIntyre has said before that he is free to choose his own words in promos. WWE’s creative team decides where the storylines go, while he works on how to get each message across.
Even though he has not appeared on television since WrestleMania 42, McIntyre continues to use social media to taunt his former rivals. He recently mocked CM Punk again.
