Drew McIntyre has been away from WWE programming since WrestleMania 42, but that does not mean that the Scottish Warrior has stopped preparing for a possible return to the ring.
In a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, McIntyre revealed that the desire to wrestle again was so great during the filming of The Last Druid in Barcelona that he looked for a ring to train in.
“I had an itch so bad that I’ve been getting back in the ring and just moving around. Even when I was in Barcelona, I spent three months in Barcelona filming The Last Druid with Russell Crowe after I finished Highlander. I literally lived there for three months and I said, ‘I can’t do this. I gotta get in a ring.’”
“I feel bad for those guys. The way I wrestle, I practice the way I play. I was beating the crap out of them with no cameras there.”
In addition to the work in the ring, the former WWE Champion recently revealed that he is at 285 pounds and considers himself in the best physical shape of his career.
“I put a little video out hitting the ropes. I think Bron Breakker is the only man that hits the ropes faster than me on planet Earth. And it got over eight million views on my own socials, so people are excited to see Drew come back. I miss the live fans. I miss the buzz, the adrenaline, but I am enjoying what I’m doing right now.”
McIntyre was prepared to return to WWE after finishing Highlander, but changed his plans when he received the opportunity to work again with Russell Crowe on The Last Druid. As already reported here, Triple H supported that idea.
The Scot has already gone about six months without wrestling, the longest period of his career since he started in pro wrestling at age 15.
