Drew McIntyre is nearing a return to WWE television after more than five months out of action.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that McIntyre should be back soon, as most of his acting commitments are over. McIntyre also recently wrapped filming on the microdrama WWE produced in partnership with ReelShort.
The picture was different in August, as Wrestling Noticias previously reported. At that point, according to that report, McIntyre had returned to the United States, but there were no active creative discussions about putting him back on television.
McIntyre added to the anticipation last week by posting a video of himself training in the ring at Rusev’s KECH Pro Wrestling Academy in Nashville, Tennessee.
Along with his work on Highlander and The Last Druid, McIntyre took part in WWE’s first microdrama project. The series will also feature Jacob Fatu, Joe Hendry, Marc Herrmann and Chase Mattson.
McIntyre has not wrestled since April 18, when he lost to Fatu in an Unsanctioned Match on Night 1 of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
