A photo of Anthony Bowens outside the LA Dojo has renewed speculation about his wrestling future and fueled rumors that he could be headed to NJPW.
NJPW Academy also shared the photo on social media and introduced Bowens as a special guest. NJPW scheduled two seminars for the same day, both led by Kevin Knight, who is under contract with AEW.
The sessions took place in Carson, California, and were open to wrestlers with prior experience. The company charged $75 per session, with a reduced rate of $50 for NJPW Academy students.
Bowens has been a free agent since his AEW contract expired on October 1. He last wrestled for AEW at All In London on August 30, when The Opps lost to Lio Rush and The Rascalz on the Buy-In.
In an interview with Michael Fairman on October 12, Bowens declined to reveal his next move and said he didn’t want to speculate about the future.
“I know deep down what I want to do and we’ll see if it works out,” Bowens said.
In the same interview, Bowens thanked fans for their support and said many people asked him to stay with AEW.
Two days later, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that he had no word on plans for Bowens with The Opps.
