Je’Von Evans Reveals His All-Time Favorite SummerSlam Match

Je’Von Evans, one of WWE‘s fastest-rising young talents, revealed what he considers the greatest SummerSlam match of all time.

Speaking with Tim Rivera during this year’s SummerSlam weekend, the “Young OG” didn’t need long to settle on the Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H classic from SummerSlam 2002.

Evans was emphatic about his pick.

“Oh, my favorite SummerSlam match of all time, honestly, is probably Triple H versus Shawn Michaels. Shawn Michaels came back, you feel me? He was rocking the jeans, the boots. Bro, he was locked in. The tank top, bro? Come on, now. That was my favorite SummerSlam match of all time, for sure.”

The match took place on August 25, 2002, at the Nassau Coliseum in New York and marked Michaels’ return to the ring after more than four years on the shelf with the serious back injury that had forced him out of action.

Evans’ choice also stands out given the relationship he went on to build with both men. Shawn Michaels was one of the strongest advocates for his WWE signing in 2023, a time when there were internal concerns about his age and size.

Once on the main roster, Evans began working directly with Triple H. He recently compared their approaches, noting that Michaels values a faster pace while Triple H prioritizes storytelling and gives the audience more time to absorb each moment.

On the August 3 edition of Monday Night RAW, Evans picked up a win over Ethan Page.
