Je’Von Evans believes Grayson Waller was speaking the truth when he took aim at the WWE NXT men’s division, particularly his comparison between the women’s and men’s rosters.
Waller returned to NXT on July 28 and spared virtually no one. Beyond taking shots at Austin Theory, Cruz Montana, and NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo, the Australian called out the entire men’s roster as complacent and said the women are far ahead right now.
Speaking recently with The Wrestling Classic, Evans agreed with much of what Waller had to say and hopes the promo served as a wake-up call.
“He was being real. He was being honest. I feel like the roster, they’re trying to do their thing. But the women are going crazy right now, especially in NXT.
So I really hope that woke up the men’s roster because if it didn’t, then Grayson is gonna have to take over and become champion. And I feel like nobody really wants that.”
Evans’ comments carry weight. Kendal Grey recently retained the NXT Women’s Championship against Lola Vice in an Underground Match on the August 4 show, a bout widely regarded as one of the best matches of the year.
Waller, meanwhile, is already on the verge of backing up his words with results. On the August 11 NXT, he faces Cruz Montana in a #1 Contender’s Match, with the winner going on to challenge Tony D’Angelo for the NXT Championship at Heatwave on August 30.
