Josh Alexander returned to AEW television on Wednesday night after spending more than five months on the shelf with a serious knee injury.
The surprise return occurred on AEW Dynamite at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas. Following Darby Allin’s successful TNT Championship defense against Mark Davis, members of the Don Callis Family swarmed Allin.
Steven Borden ran in to make the save, but Alexander blindsided him before locking Allin in an ankle lock.
Alexander had been sidelined since March. The injury occurred during a March 18 AEW Collision taping (which aired March 22) in a trios match pitting the Don Callis Family against Místico and JetSpeed.
Alexander underwent surgery on April 1, later revealing that he had suffered a complete meniscus tear requiring full reconstruction. At the time, Alexander noted that doctors projected his recovery could keep him out of action for the remainder of 2026.
Alexander previously made a surprise appearance for Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling in August, confronting then-interim champion Stu Grayson on the August 19 episode of MLP Mayhem. Wednesday’s Dynamite, however, marked his first AEW appearance since the injury.
