Kendal Grey appeared to take a shot at Liv Morgan during Tuesday’s episode of WWE NXT.
During the Heatwave Summit in the show’s main event, the reigning WWE NXT Women’s Champion spoke about the kind of champion she plans to be, making it clear she intends to actively defend her title.
“There are people in this company that go hundreds of days without defending their title, but that’s not me, that’s not the champion that I am.”
Grey didn’t name anyone specifically, but the comment immediately drew comparisons to Morgan. The Women’s World Champion won the title at WrestleMania 42 and went over 100 days without a televised defense. Her first defense didn’t come until SummerSlam on August 1, when she defeated IYO SKY.
There’s enough context to read the remark as a possible shot, but neither Grey nor WWE have confirmed that Morgan was the intended target.
Grey has been keeping a busy schedule as champion. She captured the NXT Women’s Championship on June 28 by defeating Lola Vice at the Great American Bash and already put the title on the line on July 7 against Nattie.
Her next defense is scheduled for NXT Heatwave on August 30, where she’ll face Kelani Jordan.
