Kendal Grey’s WWE NXT Women’s Championship Challenger Set for Heatwave

Kelani Jordan finally landed the title shot she’s been pushing for over the past several months on WWE NXT. On Tuesday’s episode, Jordan was officially confirmed as the next challenger for Kendal Grey’s NXT Women’s Championship, with the match set for Heatwave.

The segment kicked off when Kali Armstrong hit the ring to stake her claim to a title opportunity. Jordan interrupted and once again voiced her frustration over being passed over, before Grey and WWE Women’s Speed Champion Wren Sinclair made their way out.

Grey announced that she had spoken with General Manager Robert Stone and locked in the title match Jordan had been demanding. Jordan selected Heatwave on 8/30 as the date for the bout. The segment broke down when Armstrong attacked Grey.

The match brings a months-long story full circle. Jordan defeated Grey on 5/12, but Grey got the win back on 6/9 in a #1 Contender’s Match, earning the opportunity that ultimately led to her capturing the title.

At the Great American Bash on 6/28, Grey defeated Lola Vice to win the NXT Women’s Championship. Jordan tried to get involved and go after Grey but was cut off by Wren Sinclair.

Heatwave takes place on 8/30 at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas.
