Kevin Knight could leave the AEW TNT Championship vacant if he wins the AEW World Championship at Redemption on July 26 in Montreal, Quebec.
The current champion sat down with SB Nation ahead of the biggest match of his career, against Kenny Omega, and addressed the possibility of finally turning “Jet Two Belts” into a reality.
“If all goes to plan, Jet Two Belts becomes a reality this upcoming Sunday, and I don’t see myself relinquishing it for anybody, that comes my way.”
“I think I will let up and maybe relinquish the TNT title or, you know, let the other people have a little bit of fun. don’t wanna take up all the time at AEW, but AEW is gonna be set up in the next 6 months if The Jet is on top.”
Despite opening his answer by insisting he wouldn’t give up either title, Knight admitted moments later that he could leave the TNT Championship vacant to give other AEW names some room.
“The Jet” heads into Redemption on a 10-match winning streak. In the July 22 episode of Dynamite, he defeated Darby Allin in his 10th title defense, setting the record for most defenses in a single reign with the belt.
This will be Knight’s second shot at the AEW World Championship in less than three months. On May 6, still working as a babyface, he was defeated by Darby Allin. A few weeks later, at Double or Nothing, he attacked his then-partner Mike Bayley and joined the Don Callis Family.
