Liv Morgan is already thinking about SummerSlam, even though she doesn’t know who her opponent will be at WWE‘s biggest summer event.

The reigning Women’s World Champion captured the title on Night 1 of WrestleMania 42, defeating Stephanie Vaquer in Las Vegas to begin her third reign with the red brand’s world championship. Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez also played important roles in the match’s finish.

In an interview with CBS News, Morgan said WrestleMania represents a kind of “new year” for wrestling, noting that everything on the road to SummerSlam should be treated as new and unpredictable.

“It’s still a ways away, it’s still a couple weeks away, we just had WrestleMania, and WrestleMania to me signifies the wrestling new year, so everything leading into SummerSlam is going to be new and fresh, and you can expect the unexpected.”

“So I don’t even know what to expect for SummerSlam. I’m expecting to be there, I’m expecting to be there, I’m expecting to defend and retain my Women’s World Championship, and I’m expecting to walk out a winner. That’s all I really know right now, but it’s going to be iconic.”

Her comments line up with her current momentum in WWE. On the RAW immediately after WrestleMania 42, the champion beat Sol Ruca in a non-title match following interference from Zaria, and ended the night being confronted by Vaquer.

However, an immediate rematch with Vaquer won’t happen anytime soon. On this week’s RAW, the former champion was attacked by The Judgment Day, with Michael Cole later announcing that she suffered a grade-two shoulder injury that is expected to sideline her for some time.

This year’s SummerSlam will be held over two nights, on August 1 and 2, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. It will be WWE’s first premium live event in the city since TLC in 2019 and also the company’s first stadium event there.

So far, WWE has not announced a match for Morgan at the event.
