Dominik Mysterio officially has his next major challenger for the AAA Mega Championship. The champion will put the title on the line against El Grande Americano on Night 2 of Triplemanía 34.
The match was made official on the August 15 episode of AAA on FOX. Mysterio and Americano got into another brawl, forcing General Manager Rey Mysterio to pull them apart. Americano then announced the title match will take place on September 13 at Arena CDMX in Mexico City.
El Grande Americano has had the title shot in his back pocket for months. On March 14, he defeated Santos Escobar, La Parka, and the Original El Grande Americano to win Rey de Reyes, earning a future crack at the AAA Mega Championship as part of the prize.

1:00 PM · Aug 16, 2026Dominik and Americano were previously aligned as Los Gringos Locos 2.0. That partnership came to a definitive end at Verano de Escándalo on July 25, when Mysterio abandoned Americano during a match against Los Perros del Mal and later aligned with Dorian Roldán and Omos.
The two also share history at AAA’s biggest show. At Triplemanía XXXIII in 2025, both competed in a fatal four-way for the Mega Championship, but El Hijo Del Vikingo retained. Dominik would go on to capture the title on September 12, 2025, at Worlds Collide by defeating Vikingo.
Triplemanía 34 is a two-night event. Night 1 takes place on September 11 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, with Night 2 following on September 13 at Arena CDMX.
