Lil Yachty is set to make his official in-ring debut at Sunday Night’s Main Event. The rapper will square off against United States Champion Baron Corbin on the September 6 show at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
The match was announced on tonight’s WWE SmackDown after Trick Williams once again demanded a shot at the United States Championship. Corbin initially shut him down, pointing to his win over Williams at SummerSlam and a second victory in their rematch on the August 7 SmackDown.
Lil Yachty got involved during that last confrontation, attacking Corbin with a bat. In response, the champion laid out a condition. If Williams wants back in the title picture, Yachty has to face Corbin first at SNME in Atlanta.
The stipulation is straightforward. Lil Yachty has to survive five minutes in the ring with Corbin. If he makes it to the time limit, Trick Williams earns another shot at the United States Championship.
Yachty has been at Williams’ side on WWE television for several months and played a direct role in the loss that cost Trick his title at SummerSlam. During that match, Williams went after Corbin and accidentally knocked Yachty onto a table before taking the End of Days and losing the championship.
Corbin vs. Lil Yachty joins a growing SNME card that already includes Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton and Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker.
