WWE will tape tonight’s (Monday, August 24) episode of Friday Night SmackDown, set to air on Friday, August 28. The taping takes place at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa immediately following Monday Night RAW. The double taping is part of a series of back-to-back tapings designed to give the roster and crew additional rest ahead of the September South American tour.
Fightful Select has obtained the internal rundown for the show, which includes several key matches and segments. As with any preliminary script, the card is subject to change during taping.
Spoilers:
- Kevin Owens will cut a promo with appearances by CM Punk, Nick Aldis, Gunther, and Finn Bálor;
- Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton will face the Irresistible Forces. Green’s injury will be highlighted, and Nia Jax is slated to score the pinfall;
- Paige will face Jacy Jayne, with Jayne expected to go over;
- Cody Rhodes will have segments involving Finn Bálor and Randy Orton;
- Trick Williams and Lil Yachty are set for another confrontation with Baron Corbin;
- Tatum Paxley will be interviewed alongside Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss before facing Michin, with Paxley expected to go over;
- Rey Fenix is scheduled for a segment with Ricky Saints;
- Giulia and Blake Monroe will get into another brawl;
- Damian Priest and R-Truth will have a segment with the War Raiders;
- Nick Aldis will appear backstage with the Irresistible Forces, The Miz, and Kit Wilson;
- Nikki Bella is also scheduled to appear;
- The Miz and Kit Wilson will be announced to face Kyoki and Shinsuke Nakamura next week;
- The main event is listed as a Triple Threat Match between Gunther, Finn Bálor, and a third participant who has not yet been revealed. CM Punk and Sami Zayn are expected to get involved in the match;
