WWE Worlds Collide has its first match. Roxanne Perez will challenge La Catalina for the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship on September 26 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.
Perez earned the title shot on Night 1 of Triplemanía 34 in Las Vegas, winning a Fatal Four-Way over Nattie, Faby Apache and La Hiedra.
The finish came with an assist from the then-champion Flammer, though not the kind she intended. Flammer tried to help her Las Tóxicas stablemate La Hiedra, but the interference backfired. Perez capitalized, hit the Pop Rox on Hiedra and picked up the win.
At the time, Perez didn’t know who she’d face in Chicago. Flammer still had to defend the Reina de Reinas Championship against La Catalina two days later on Night 2 of Triplemanía 34 in Mexico City.
Catalina won the match, capturing the title and ending Flammer’s historic reign at more than 1,100 days. Her first defense as champion is now set.
Catalina arrived in AAA in April after leaving CMLL and immediately targeted Flammer’s title. Months later, she won a Gauntlet Match at Ola de Calor to earn the shot that led to her title win at Triplemanía.
CM Punk is also announced for Worlds Collide. The show takes place the same day as AEW All Out, also in the Chicago area.
