WWE has confirmed the first match for the September 1 episode of NXT, airing just two days after Heatwave. Shiloh Hill will square off against Naraku.
The bout was made official on Tuesday’s show. Hill approached General Manager Robert Stone backstage and requested the match, citing what happened the previous week. Stone agreed on the spot.
The issue dates back to the August 18 episode of NXT, when Hill faced Jackson Drake in a #1 contender’s match for the NXT North American Championship.
Hill was closing in on the win when Naraku emerged from underneath the ring and blasted him with the Red Mist. Drake capitalized on the interference and picked up the victory.
Naraku last wrestled on July 21, losing to Tony D’Angelo in a Street Fight for the NXT Championship. That bout was a rematch from the Great American Bash, where D’Angelo also came away with the win.
Hill also competed at the Great American Bash, picking up a victory over Tristan Angels.
Before Hill and Naraku collide, NXT Heatwave airs live this Sunday, August 30 on The CW starting at 3 p.m. ET.
