Tommaso Ciampa wants to turn his next match with Chris Jericho into one of the most violent in recent AEW history.

During this week’s AEW Collision tapings, held Thursday, July 16, in Boston, Massachusetts, the Psycho Killer defeated Myron Reed in a singles match. Right after the bout, he confronted Paul Wight and asked the commentator to pass along a direct message to Jericho.

Ciampa challenged the veteran to a No Holds Barred Match at AEW Redemption. The stipulation, however, has not been officially confirmed by the company.

The rematch had already been set up on the latest episode of AEW Dynamite. Jericho showed up as the Painmaker and challenged Ciampa to a rematch at the pay-per-view, which will take place Sunday, July 26, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.

The rivalry escalated dramatically at AEW Dynamite’s “Beach Break” special on July 8. Ciampa threw sand in Jericho’s eyes that night and hit a Bicycle Knee to win the match. After the pinfall, he attacked his rival with a steel chair and tried to use a power drill, but referees and security stepped in to stop him.

Jericho vowed to return as the Painmaker specifically to get revenge for that loss. The persona became known for no-rules matches during his run in NJPW and was also used in AEW for a Barbed Wire Everywhere Match against Eddie Kingston in July 2022.
