Paul Heyman said fans can expect something unexpected at WWE Backlash, which takes place this Saturday in Tampa, Florida.

During an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up, the “Wiseman” was asked what fans should look for at the premium live event and gave a direct answer.

“You can expect to see the unexpected, because in WWE, surprises are the norm.”

The comment adds to the speculation surrounding the show, especially given Heyman’s current role on WWE programming. He remains directly tied to Bron Breakker, who will face Seth Rollins in one of the biggest matches on the card after their rivalry intensified when Breakker cost Rollins his match against Gunther at WrestleMania 42.

Backlash will also feature Roman Reigns defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Jacob Fatu. Their family feud has escalated in recent weeks, with Fatu making it clear that he does not just want the title, but everything Reigns represents within the Samoan dynasty.

The card also includes Trick Williams defending the United States Championship against Sami Zayn, IYO SKY facing Asuka, and Danhausen searching for a mystery partner to take on The Miz and Kit Wilson. John Cena is also advertised for a major reveal during the show.

WWE Backlash takes place on May 9 at Benchmark International Arena, streaming live on ESPN Unlimited in the United States and Netflix internationally.
