AEW confirmed Sunday night that PAC, one of the top names on its roster in recent years, has died. He was 40.
So far, no cause of death has been released for PAC, whose real name was Benjamin Satterley.
The news prompted numerous tributes from across the wrestling industry. WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman mourned PAC on social media, praising not only his talent but also the person he knew outside the ring.
“Oh no. No no no no no no no. What a tremendous talent and even finer human being. My most profound condolences to all who knew him. A truly terrible loss!” Heyman wrote.
PAC had wrestled just hours before his death. On Saturday, he challenged Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship at AEW All Out, held at NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Andrade retained the title and later posted a message saying PAC should one day become a world champion.
Satterley began his wrestling career in 2004 and joined AEW in 2019. With the promotion, he became the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Champion and a two-time AEW World Trios Champion.
Before joining AEW, he had a long run in WWE as Neville. There, he won the NXT Championship and the NXT Tag Team Championship and was a two-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion.
