Penta has put together one of the best singles records in WWE this year. According to Cagematch, he’s gone 25-1 in one-on-one matches in 2026, with his only loss coming against Chad Gable at SummerSlam.
That loss came on August 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis with the Intercontinental Championship on the line. Penta went for a second Mexican Destroyer, but Gable countered directly into the Ankle Lock and forced the then-champion to tap.
The defeat ended Penta’s 152-day reign. He won the Intercontinental Championship on March 2 by defeating Dominik Mysterio and successfully defended it in a Ladder Match at WrestleMania 42.

The 25-1 mark covers singles matches only. Penta also took losses in multi-man matches during the year, including the Royal Rumble, a Triple Threat, and a Fatal Four-Way.
Since SummerSlam, Penta has rattled off wins over Laredo Kid, Bronco Nima, La Parka, and Rey Fenix. His tournament victories over Laredo Kid, La Parka, and Fenix earned him an even bigger opportunity.
Penta will challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship on the September 14 RAW, when WWE returns to Mexico City.
