Raquel Rodriguez had a historic, and painful, night on the latest episode of Monday Night RAW, held at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California. The Judgment Day member defeated Sol Ruca to win the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, but Rodriguez came out of the match with heavy bleeding from her nose.
The trouble started in the opening minutes. After Ruca hit Rodriguez with a moonsault outside the ring, the challenger climbed back in with her face covered in blood and needed quick attention from referee Jessika Carr.
During the broadcast, Michael Cole and Corey Graves raised the possibility that Rodriguez had broken her nose. WWE, though, confirmed only that Rodriguez sustained an injury, without releasing a medical diagnosis or confirming whether there was a fracture.
Despite the injury, Rodriguez stayed in the match. Down the stretch, Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez interfered on her behalf, while IYO SKY showed up to counter Judgment Day’s numbers game.
Perez stopped Ruca from hitting the Sol Snatcher, clearing the way for Rodriguez to catch Ruca with the Tejana Bomb and score the pinfall to win the title. The match ran a little over ten minutes.
With the win, Rodriguez captured her first singles title on WWE’s main roster. She had previously held the NXT Women’s Championship and won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship five times.
