Raquel Rodriguez has commented on becoming the new WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion.
Rodriguez defeated Sol Ruca for the title on the July 27 edition of RAW. After the show, the Judgment Day member posted a brief reaction to the biggest singles victory of her main roster run.
“Words can’t even explain ❤️😎,” Rodriguez wrote on X.
The title match saw Rodriguez suffer a nose injury early, but she continued. Ruca appeared to be closing in on a successful defense before Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez came to ringside. IYO SKY then arrived to support Ruca and went after Morgan.
Back in the ring, Ruca attempted the Sol Snatcher while the referee was occupied by the activity at ringside. Perez stopped the move from being completed, allowing Rodriguez to recover. Rodriguez then hit the Tejana Bomb and scored the pin to become champion.
The victory gave Rodriguez her first singles championship on WWE’s main roster. Her previous singles title in the company was the NXT Women’s Championship, which she held in 2021.
Monday’s match was Rodriguez’s second challenge for Ruca’s title in July. Ruca retained against her on the July 6 edition of Raw after SKY neutralized Morgan and Perez at ringside. Three weeks later, Judgment Day’s involvement helped change the result.
Triple H also commented on Rodriguez’s win after RAW.
“No challenge too big, no setback too great. Through blood, sweat, and tears, Raquel Rodriguez is the NEW @WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion. #AndNew”
